Android application market gets boost through carrier billing
Date: July 29, 2010 | No Comments
The Android Developers blog announced last weekend that carrier billing will be soon an option for Android applications. The new Android’s terms and conditions will allow application developers to create applications that users can purchase directly from their carrier of choice. The carrier would then provide billing for services as well as Android applications. Availability dates for this offer have not yet been announced. We will provide updates as they become available.
Tarifica’s Take:
This is great news for Android application developers, Android users and carriers. One of the biggest problems that application developers were finding was that many users didn’t like making separate smaller payments to them. With this solution, users will be able to buy applications and the cost will be added to their carrier bill. This option will give a more convenient purchasing method to end user simplify the purchase process and driving up application sales. Carriers will also benefit in that they will earn a percentage of each sale while driving additional network traffic. Additionally, carriers will recover some control of the mobile purchasing experience that they lost to the growing number of applications stores.
