Vodafone Romania has launched Smart Archive, a cloud-based storage service for managing electronic archives, dedicated to business users. With Smart Archive, users can generate and view a centralized information archive with features including scanning and cataloging documents, importing files, finding and accessing centralized information as well as controlling access to archives. Through the archiving service, users always have an electronic copy of physical documents, for the purposes of convenience and safety. Furthermore, documents can be accessed anytime and anywhere, simultaneously on multiple mobile devices. Vodafone Smart Archive enables the categorizing of business documents according to criteria such as contract expiration or invoice maturity. In addition, the service allows the configuration of the period for which each document is kept in the archive. At the same time, the platform allow access to be differentiated based on the end-user. Vodafone Smart Archive is available to small and medium business customers at €16.00 (US $17.39) per month in a package that includes access to three end-users and 10 GB of storage space.
Tarifica’s Take
While there are many options available for cloud-based storage, some offered by device manufacturers such as Apple and others offered by specialized cloud service providers, we still think it is a smart idea for an MNO like Vodafone Romania to create and brand its own cloud storage system. Such services are a good way for an operator to generate revenue by leveraging a pre-existing customer base. In addition, the need for security among business customers means that a trusted entity—one’s mobile operator—has built-in appeal when it comes to the storage and managing of confidential documents.
